Job description

This position offers the ideal balance of hands on repair work and frontline leadership responsibilities. You will guide and support a team of trailer mechanics and apprentices while ensuring safe, efficient, and high quality repairs on a wide range of commercial trailers.

YOUR ROLE

Leadership Duties

  • Lead and support trailer mechanics and apprentices during daily shop operations.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure timely, high quality work completion.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting guidance, and mentorship to team members.
  • Assist with training and development, particularly for apprentices and junior techs.
  • Coordinate with management to plan and manage shop workflow.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and company safety standards.
  • Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and readiness.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as work order accuracy, documentation, and time tracking.


Mechanic Duties

  • Diagnose and repair issues on commercial trailers including:
  • ABS/EBS brake systems
  • Air brake systems

          o Electrical wiring, lighting and connectors
          o Suspensions (air ride & spring)
          o Landing gear
          o Axles, hubs, and bearings
          o Floors, roofs, doors, railings, and general structural components
          o Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.

  • Complete Annual Trailer Inspections.
  • Ensure all repairs meet regulatory, safety, and manufacturer standards.
  • Keep accurate repair records, parts usage, and service notes.
     

Qualifications and requirements

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience as a lead hand, senior technician, or working foreman is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of trailer systems, components, and repair methods
  • WHMIS, First Aid, and Annual Inspection Certification are assets

REQUIRED ABILITIES

  • Licensed Trailer Mechanic or Truck & Transport Technician (or equivalent experience)
  • Adhere to safety protocols in an industrial setting
  • To operate effectively in a collaborative digital environment

SOUGHT-AFTER SKILLS

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to lead and support a team while performing hands on repairs
  • Effective communication and organizational abilities

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm

Compensation package

A competitive salary, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience

  • Hourly wage: From $C3,53 to $Y3,55 per hour
  • $2,000 retention bonus (details provided upon hiring)
